World Hypnotism Day – January 4th, 2009
An invitation to learn about hypnosis – a tool guaranteed to enhance your life.
Finally accepted as a healing modality by research scientists and medical professionals, hypnotherapy has entered the mainstream, with features in the New York Times and on shows such as Oprah Winfrey and Suzuki’s Nature of Things.
In honor of World Hypnotism Day on January 4th, 2009, Dr. Georgina Cannon, one of Canada’s leading hypnotherapists and founding director of the Ontario Hypnosis Centre, will launch a three-minute stress relief session, available online at www.ont-hypnosis-centre.com, to help Canadians across the country cope with reducing stress.
“Stress is everywhere in our lives, but isn’t beyond our control. You can train yourself to relax and meditate in less than three minutes,” says Dr. Cannon. “The three-minute stress relief trains you to lock into a deep feeling of relaxation, and then be able to reconnect with that feeling, using a tactile trigger, anytime you need to. More and more people are using hypnosis and self-hypnosis to enable themselves to be the best they can be,” explains Dr. Cannon. “Once you’ve learned self-hypnosis, it can stay with you for the rest of your life and help you achieve any goal you set your mind to.”
The three-minute stress relief is one tool Dr. Cannon has developed to enable her to reach out to Canadians with the power of hypnosis. Hypnotherapy uses the same Alpha brain waves as meditation that can help clients resolve issues once and for all, often in very little time. Dr. Cannon has treated thousands of clients from a wide-range of backgrounds, and specializes in using hypnotherapy to help clients deal with emotional issues that are affecting their current lives. She lectures on hypnotism world-wide, and is an award-winning certified trainer of teachers. Also an expert in Past Life Regression journeys, and author of two books, Cannon was featured in a recent CBC Past Life Investigation program. Past Life Regression has gained prominence in recent years as a successful treatment for identifying and overcoming obstacles in life.
Whether you are a believer or not, a past life journey can be a powerful and transformative experience.

January 4th is the day when professionals in the field of hypnotism from various organizations around the world share their expertise and promote the truths and benefits of hypnotism. The first World Hypnotism Day in January of 2005 was so successful with impressive displays of professionalism and sharing of knowledge and skills by hypnotists globally, that this is now an annual event. Talks, interviews, workshops and articles will be available around the world.
About Hypnotism: Hypnotism is a safe and effective intervention for a variety of motivational, self-improvement and goal setting situations. It is natural and free of side effects, and when performed by a competent certified practitioner the results are long lasting and often permanent.
Guidelines of Practice: The National Guild of Hypnotists has ethical guidelines, to which all members must adhere and hold to the ideal that hypnotism should be practiced in a free and open manner in line with all national and regional requirements. NGH Hypnotists are not practicing medical or mental health doctors (unless additional credentials are held by the member hypnotist). Hypnotists do not diagnose disease, but can help as an adjunct to conventional medical or mental health interventions. They have our own unique non-diagnostic language, which they use with clients in order to help them achieve their desired changes.
